The Luckiest Bird in the World!

This bird was almost our cats breakfast. This morning the cat was sitting in the window of the bedroom as she usually does but I had opened the window to let some air in and she managed to go out and catch this little thrush (at least I think its a thrush) and bring it back into the bedroom presumably to kill and eat for breakfast!

We were alerted by the birds screaming cries and ran upstairs to witness the scene where Tilly had the bird by the neck on the floor, the bird was screaming and Poppy the Jack Russell was looking on wagging its tail not really knowing what was going on but interested anyway. I found myself wondering how Tilly had managed to catch it in the first place.

I managed to get Tilly reluctantly to release the bird and it flew straight at the closed part of the window trying to get out and nearly killing itself in the process. Tilly managed to attack it and catch it again but again I managed to make her let the poor thing go. This time I pushed Tilly out of the room and closed the door.

The poor bird was terrified and was banging itself off the window. I managed to catch it and gently released it out through the open window where it flew off straight away.

Imagine my surprise when a short time later I hear it sitting on the roof of our porch directly under the bedroom window singing away merrily. IT flew off before I could get a picture but it came straight back again singing its little heart ot and it was then I managed to snap this image. I imagine it was singing "Ha Ha Stupid Cat! Catch me if you can this time!"

It doesn't look any worse for the experience and now I know how Tilly managed to catch it in the first place. Its head and eye is out of focus as it was moving its head around a lot and I was lucky to get a shot as it only sat there for a few seconds efore flying off again. If it comes back later I'll try again.
