Pulling On Me
this lake... it draws me to it. last week, the open water belches steam in sub-zero weather. this weekend, the very same area is completely iced over... no snow anywhere...
i couldn't help it... despite how crazy... i suited up. life jacket. rope. pick hammer. camera. if i was to fall through the ice, i was fairly certain that i would be able to float long enough to pull myself out of the lake.
just as i was about to get started, steve returned my call... yep. he would be down to the shore in fifteen minutes. four hours later, we were still smiling... you see... the lake only freezes completely over every 17 years on average... and only freezes our part every four or five years... and much less frequently... freezes in such a way that you can go for an ice skate... and skate... and skate... we went for 15-20 miles today. crazy crazy fun...
