What Coauthor.studio makes of my year on LinkedIn #2024
Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio:
In 2024, the highlight of becoming Senior Lecturer wasn't the title change, but the chance to expand student opportunities through:
š Two major careers fairs connecting students with 80+ employers
š Free Microsoft certification program covering Azure, AI, Security and Cloud
š "Hearing Your Future" podcast featuring alumni career journeys
š Joining The 93% Club to champion state school access to professional opportunities
Three posts that sparked important discussions:
"SO, WHAT SCHOOL DID YOU GO TO?"
A seemingly innocent interview question that reveals how social background still influences tech careers.
"Why should we (still) teach children to code?"
Even with AI's advances, programming remains fundamental to computing education - not because AI can't write code, but because coding teaches powerful ways of thinking.
"Applications for free Microsoft certifications close May 3rd"
Creating new pathways for Manchester students to gain industry-recognized credentials in AI, Cloud, and Security.
September brought www.ukicer.com to Manchester - two days of computing education research highlighting how practical industry experience shapes student development.
Looking ahead: As AI transforms technology, our focus remains clear - expanding placement opportunities while ensuring computing education stays relevant and accessible to all students. The fundamentals matter more than ever.
