04-63 SHN760 United Durham

This Bristol LS5G with an ECW B45F body worked from the United garage in Durham. One thousand four hundred of this type were built and with over 300 buses, coaches and dual-purpose vehicles in the fleet, United Automobile Services of Darlington was the major operator of the LS or light saloon type. Carrying fleet number BU70, SHN760 is seen leaving Durham City by way of Claypath and Gilesgate in 1963. Almost fifty years on and the road system in this area is changed considerably, although I believe the railings just visible on the left still protect the raised footpath at this point.
