Motmot

Photographing wildlife takes a good degree of patience. To get the best results, you often have to spend some time observing the animal's natural behavior. This will give you the opportunity to line up for the perfect shot. While in Mexico, I noticed some birds flying around the jungle that the locals call "Motmots". They were busy exiting their nests inside their cave and catching bugs. Before going back inside the cave, they would land on this branch. So I positioned myself near this branch and waited. Soon enough, they were comfortable enough with my presence and would come and land on the branch. These birds were very colorful and it was fun seeing the different types of bugs they would catch! Taken with a Sony 100-400mm telephoto, handheld at 1/400sec.
