Surprise

Utah is full of hidden gems that are not often photographed. When I took my clients to this remote arch near Kanab, I remember it was a gloomy overcast day. But the forecast said the clouds would clear up overnight so our plan was to shoot Milky Way. On our drive over, it started to look like the sun might have a chance of popping through. So I drove this tight, twisty road faster than I ever have before. Usually I get a few good brush swipes on the vehicle even when I'm going slowly. But since I was so focused, this was the only time I've driven it without a scratch! Sure enough, the sun popped through for just a few minutes and lit up the underbelly of the arch with some dramatic skies above.
