Morant's Curve
Here's an image from last winter at a spot called Morant's Curve. As far as I know, there is no schedule for when the trains come and it's just a matter of luck if you catch one or not. It was a cold, sub-zero morning and of course, there were no signs of the train. I went down to the river to photograph some of the mist and ice up close. If you look carefully you can see my tracks way out by the water's edge. Suddenly, I heard the train whistle and all I could think was "Crap, I missed the train." Regardless, I picked up my gear and ran as fast as I could in my big winter boots back up the slope. I threw down my tripod and no sooner than I did this, the train rounded the corner. While down at the river I was doing longer exposures. In my haste to beat the train, I didn't increase my ISO for faster shutter speed. Thus, this was the only usable shot I got since the train was too blurry in the rest of the sequence. My buddy Jeremy was smart and stayed put at this location!
