Del (77/100) Explored

I saw Del giving out some leaflets on the streets of Leicester this Sunday. He looked pretty dapper- he had a cool jumper/jacket combo and a bright pink shirt, so although it was the colours that drew me to him, I couldn't resist the textures in the B&W conversion.

Here is an alternative shot of Del from my 100 strangers project. I was playing around with backlighting, but didn't adjust the metering enough to keep the level of detail I wanted in the face and clothes, although was fairly happy with the shot, initially the other just pipped it for me.

 

After some thought, I decided that the backlit shot was the one I had really wanted to capture (Del was walking away when I grabbed him for a few more shots as the sun came out again), and though not technically perfect, was more in keeping with the growing and trying out new things ethos of the project, so I pulled the first one from the group and added this instead.

Del is currently doing research at Leicester University (something to do with entrepreneurism if I remember correctly!). He was giving out leaflets for a big new years eve event at his church in Leicester.

I didn't want to keep him too long, but he seemed like a sound guy- really happy to stop and chat for a few minutes.
