Driver Source
6 (Large)
Chassis No. 8ZC533148
Engine: 383 cu in (6.3 L) MEL V8
Transmission: 3-speed automatic
The Monterey was introduced in 1950 as a high-end two-door hardtop in the same vein as the Ford Crestliner. The fullsize Mercury was redesigned for 1957 and grew considerably larger as well, riding on an exclusive 122 in wheelbase. A new frame design allowed a lower floor which made the car look lower and longer.
1958 brought quad headlamps, as well as an all-new engine: the 383 cu in (6.3 L) MEL V8. With the new engine came the Multi-Drive three-speed automatic transmission. With the discontinuation of the low-price Medalist and a trend towards fuel economy, the 1959 Monterey model returned to the 312, with 210 hp.
8ZC533148: Offered here is a wonderful example the iconic fullsize Mercury; finished in two tone paint, complete with side skirts, yards of brightwork and a full continental kit. The car runs strong and reliable, including the push-button automatic transmission. Proudly displaying its well-maintained older restoration, this Monterey presents admirably a driver, offering a pleasant open air cruising experience.
* A well equipped example!
* Excellently maintained and preserved!
* An iconic American Classic!
