Crib
CREATED BY: BRENDA LEIGH BAKER, MADISON, WI
Brenda Baker’s installation Crib re-conceptualizes the meaning and function of a corncrib. Instead of mundane storage bins, Crib becomes a beacon of color and light that draws passers-by into the landscape. Using existing structures and a combination of natural and man-made materials, the piece plays off the colors, topography, and scale of the landscape. Baker is a practicing artist in Madison, Wis., where she lives with a flock of small farm animals, two boys and her husband. She works as Director of Exhibits for Madison Children’s Museum, and is deeply involved in both sustainable design and urban agriculture in education movements.
LANDOWNER: JERRY & JANE DOROW
The Dorow Farm consists of cash cropping and cow-calf beef operations and has been in the family for two generations.
