January 21, 2010: A watch and a warning
The weather man predicted a huge storm for Thursday. How huge a storm I would not know until a Facebook friend posted that we were under a Tornado Watch. What? A Tornado Watch in Arizona?
An old friend explained to me that I didn't need to worry unless the status was changed to a Tornado Warning and I could just listen to the radio or TV to keep on top of what was happening.
By this time the husband was already in bed so I moved my studying out to the living room so that I could watch the weather ticker.
As I was flipping thru the channels (aka studying) I noticed a change from Tornado Watch to Tornado Warning. But then it changed back shortly after. The Watch was supposed to end at 10:30. The wind did not sound so bad after that and I went to bed. It wasn't until the next day at work that I heard it had actually been extended until 1-2am that morning. If I had known that I would have probably not gone to sleep!
We are lucky that nothing got damaged in the storm. Well our mailbox is missing it's flag and the tree (twig) in the front yard is down but this all happened before the bulk of the storm.
I don't think the kitties liked the wind. Cleo made sure she was near me the entire evening.
