Thunder in the Grass 3I2098

She freezes momentarily as the golden sunlight illuminates her dampened fur. Her sight is good, but her hearing is nothing less than astounding. The auditory acuity of the red fox is extraordinary and is said to exceed that of the domestic cat. Although I am unable to glean any more than the rustling of a few blades of grass in the soft summer breeze, the movement of a vole through the underbrush likely resounds like thunder in the grass to my clever, auburn friend. Within seconds she pounces. Emerging from the brush with a vole and a self-congratulatory look of pleasure on her delightfully beautiful face. #RedFox
