The Lights Go Down 6252

When the lights go down wild elephants don’t necessarily ready themselves for rest. Studies on wild elephants found that they sleep, mainly standing, for only about 2 hours a night. They also found that deeper sleep (REM sleep) happens only about every 2 or 3 days and that they do this while lying down. Elephants sleep in short bursts rather than 2 hours collectively and many go for days without any sleep at all. During the waking time they eat and keep moving. They follow the scientific premise that the larger the mammal, the less sleep they need. #Elephants
