Bully Bear 6659

Sometimes an expression can disclose more about disposition than any action. This young adult bear seeks refuge and solace in the cradling limbs of a tree at the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary in Orr, Minnesota. The bears here are wild, but many have acclimated to humans. Even bears that don’t visit the refuge regularly don’t show aggression. These bears have a healthy, well-deserved fear of humans but they live in close daily proximity with the people who staff the refuge and refuge visitors. This isn’t the look of a bear looking for trouble. Don’t be seduced into thinking these are pets. If provoked they could easily become very dangerous. #BlackBears
