Reflections on Black & White 6999
Torn this morning between going out to photograph and taking the time to rest. It has been a busy year with little time for the latter. I realize that I have so many photos that I have never posted for any number of reasons, so I will post some of them this morning.
Winter along the shoreline is, arguably, the most peaceful. When not disturbed by hunters, fisherman, and photographers, the native wildlife has time to do exactly what I am doing today. These dunlin have traveled great distances from their Arctic breeding ground and rest along the shores. The prevailing wind orients all the birds in one direction. The sea, too, seems at rest. It is a moment of conciliation, harmony, and one for reflection. It is a moment of entropy in a world of confusion where understanding and interpretation is as plain as black and white.
For many a soul, the time spent alone, in peace with nature, is a time for reflection. It is a time when a restless heart can gain some clarity and perspective. The world is filled with those who would sacrifice morality for power and wealth, and many will do so with righteous indignation. They live at the center of a centripetal world from which their own gravity will not allow them to escape. They are the lost souls. We can only truly understand life when we free ourselves of our prejudicial nature, shed our personal desires, and try to learn its native language. The unwritten doctrine of nature’s creed is waiting in the wild. #Dunlin
