On a frozen Alaskan tundra, with ponds and lakes still partially frozen from winter's chill, a Pacific Loon takes to the skies. Extremely agile under water, and gracefully swift in the sky, the Pacific Loon is clumsy and undexterous on land. Like the red-throated loon, on land they scoot themselves along with legs and feet placed too far to their rear for effective walking. Unlike the red-throated loon, the Pacific Loon cannot take to the skies from land and require about 30 to 50 meters of open water to get an up and running start. #PacificLoon
