Layered Cake 0870

Snowy egrets and one great white egret take shelter along the south end of a mud flat at Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge as a cool autumn north wind blows. The mud flats and tidal pools layer like a colorful cake under a clear crisp autumn sky. Gone are the pesky insects that plague visitors during the summer season. Migratory birds like these egrets come by the thousands to reap a tasty meal from the waters of coastal shores. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful day observing nature's wonderful creatures at refuges throughout the country, unless of course our government has locked us out of "OUR" public lands!
