Crispy Broom Moss

Crispy Broom Moss (Dicranum montanum) makes distinctive patches of bright green on logs and at base of trees. The leaves are hair-like and when dry strongly contorted. This was the first time I had found this moss in Howard County. Patapsco Valley State Park, Maryland.
