I HAVE DASHED STAR TRAILS!
Have tried a 75 min exposure star trail before...
But this is nothing like that! This is dashed!
exposure time: 49 mins 38 secs.
Aperture: f/18
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO speed: 100
Location: My terrace
how I got the dashed trails: during the entire exposure timing, for every 5 mins of exposure, i covered the lens with the lens cap for 2 mins... resulting in this type of star trail!
It's not an original idea... I was browsing about trying to get info on star trails last yr, before I did the first one, and I found this link that gave this great idea
Wanted to try this out ever since... so I did tonight... finally!
I don't have a remote release for my cam. I just Jammed it with cloth tape and a bit of folded paper (The idea of the folded paper was given by a very very smart contact!)
You can see two dust spots... that is a result of too much playing around with the cam.
Every time I try something with my cam, I decide that I'm never going to mess around with it any more. But I just end up doing something to it... Old habits die hard.
I just hope my little cam doesn't give away someday...
This was a really fun and enjoyable exercise to do!
