Trump: "When we go there, if we go to Portland, we’re going to wipe them out. They’re going to be gone.”
Seventeen Oregon mayors signed a "joint statement denouncing any attempt to federally militarize the Portland Metro area."
Beaverton mayor spoke, "As a U.S. Army veteran who has served in combat, not only do I know what a warzone looks like; I can assure you Portland is not that. But I also know first-hand the role of the military, and it is not to police our neighborhoods. National Guard units are brave and dedicated, but their training and missions are designed for emergencies and disasters, not for community policing.”
Wilsonville Mayor added, “The real issue here is not just public safety. It is about how power is exercised in a democracy.
We must reject any slide towards authoritarianism, whether it comes from the left or the right. “Public safety is strongest when communities work together; not when they are treated like occupied territory.”
The "radical left" as applied to common citizens and members of the Democratic Party is a construct of the Republican Party (i.e. The Heritage Foundation) and right-wing propogandists (e.g. Fox News). There is nothing "great" about what they are doing to America.
