Ain't but one way out....
The road from Kluane Lake to Haines Junction, Yukon Territory.
Snow was falling off and on, squalling at times, and the road was extremely difficult to see. No lines on road and blowing and drifting snow. Reflectors marked the way about every 20 seconds, but at my speed fell out of sight before the next appeared. With about 40 miles to go I came up behind and latched on to a big rig trucker and used his trailer lights to help guide me along.
Later after caring for the dogs and safely in my motel room I wrote in the trip log,
"Arrive Haines Jct about 7pm after a somewhat surreal drive in the dark with snow falling. Alcan Motor Inn. Dogs in room. Temps in 20s."
During this stretch until I got to within a few miles of Haines Jct I saw no other vehicles. I felt as if I might have been the only person on the planet, save that long-haul trucker.
