This amputation was the ultimate result of a poorly controlled diabetes mellitus. The initial injury was the cause of stepping on a small piece of broken glass. This led to an aggressive necrotizing faciaitis and multiple surgeries, from below the knee amputation to above knee amputation with multiple revisions.
