Waking Up in a Marigold (#1)

I had the good fortune of observing an agapostemon bee in one of our Calendula flowers (aka marigolds), on two successive mornings. It was almost certainly the very same individual. On the first morning was chilly, and the bee was still "asleep" and dew-covered. On the second morning, it was significantly warmer, and the bee was waking up and flew away after just a few shots. I chose the best four shots - two profiles and two portraits. This is the "waking up" profile from day 2.

Yard macro. The orange was so intense that I decided to add some vignetting in post. Still has a kind of "Blade Runner 2049" atmosphere though...

Panasonic G9 with Laowa 50mm F/2.8 2X macro and diffused Godox TT350o flash.
