Work on the new six million pound library and council offices started back in August, 2009, when finished it is reported to be one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in the Midlands. Today the perimeter fence was removed allowing for an uninterrupted view of the striking new Jack Judge House, named after the music-hall entertainer and composer of popular songs, notably, "Its a long way to Tipperary".

The library will have just under 400 square metres of ground floor space for books, advice surgeries, office accommodation, meetings, training, exhibitions and events

Sandwell Council plan to sell off the old Grade 11 listed historic library and former magistrates court to raise funds which will go towards further improvements in office accommodation in the future.
