Opening Night
Taken during a workshop on the last night of the Nightscape Photography Conference. It was a long difficult hike to get back in to this spot that Wayne had me scout the night before. Of course I didn't hike out there to scout it I used Google Earth, yep Google Earth I set up the time and location and the Milky Way lined right up just like you see here. That, I think is the worst keep secret in photography in the fact that most people have only used G.E. in its basic configuration but if you tweak a few settings you can slide through time and actually see the M.W. move into position right over your subject...In beautiful, stunning 3D no less. This was our last chance to grab some milky way before we all had to head our way back to our homes and reality, so i guess i should have called this one "closing night".
I have started a Meet-up group for those of you who live in So Cal.
In an effort to bring my photography interests closer to home I have created this group to build a community of landscape, nightscape, and nature photographers here in the Southern California area.

These are not workshops! This is hanging out together shooting the outdoors, sharing ideas, being creative, and growing a community…..together as friends and colleagues. Each participant will need to be self-sufficient!!
