I think it would be difficult to get the splash exactly right to create an effective photo, so I admire the technical aspects of this shot. The plain background allows the details of the splash, the decorations on the glass and the red object in the glass to stand out. The water around the base of the glass completes the image very well.

This is an effective composition with the subject of the photo seated on the far right. The warm colours and the humanity of the little girl provides an effective contrast with the stiff formality and the greyness of the intricate stone carvings on the walls that seem to engulf her.

The point of view is particularly effective in this seascape. The texture of the rocks shows great clarity, which contrast with the softness of the splashing water and the orange sunset. An imaginary line could be drawn to define the foreground (the rocks), middleground (the splashing water) and background (the ocean and the sky). A very interesting composition.

dontcallmesh@ron -… says: A mysterious, and not an obvious portrait - one wonders why her face is hidden - is it fear, or is she a captive? The loosely clasped hands seems to suggest a resignation to her fate.
The photo has very effective tonal contrasts and great clarity. Black and white was an excellent choice. The lighting is from a very interesting angle, which heightens the mystery and the drama in this photo.
