Red-necked Grebe

A walk around Beaumaris lake today.

I was privileged to see new Red-necked Grebe chicks just shortly after they hatched and watched as they struggled to get on their mother’s back. The female is still sitting on two eggs. The male was very diligent about feeding the young ones. In this shot the male was giving the chick a tinyfishy Sorry Al, I couldn't resist.
