71/365 March 12 - Biking in Beijing
As we were leaving the gardens of the Summer Palace (on the northwestern outskirts of Beijing) I spotted these bicycles through a doorway. We were still within the Summer Palace grounds, so I'm not sure who these belonged to, but it was such a typical Beijing scene that I had to capture it. While cars are becoming more and more common, bicycles are still the mode of transportation of choice for much of Beijing's population. Cars, bikes, and motorcycles all share the road (and, at times, sidewalks), which makes for some white-knuckle moments on drives through the city.
