Guam HS JROTC cadets support USO Run for our Heroes

For the past 11 years, the Guam USO has held its “Run for our Heroes” to support military members stationed on Guam. It raises money to fund USO holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas where free meals are provided to military members and their dependents. 200 people were expected during Christmas 2015.

For the past 4 years, Guam High School NJROTC cadets have volunteered at the event to run water stations for the 5K part of the race, and the 2K part of the race. This school year, 30 cadets showed up at the old USO, located at the Port Authority of Guam, at 0400 to help. The race began at 0600 in the dark and nearly 1,000 runners ran in the darkness, in the rain and in the sun, thanking the cadets as they got their water. The race was a big success for the USO and all of the cadets had fun helping.
