it’s a unique bridge, built in the early part of the 19th century, called a ‘vlotbrug’ or ‘floating bridge’. The parts float on the water and when it opens, the extended part gets pulled under the fixed beginning. Most of these have been replaced by more modern bridges. This is one of the last.
