Distortion

Ok - so by popular request, another moonset shot. I thought I was seeing things as the moon neared the horizon and what seemed like a second moon or a moon reflection emerged from the sea.

 

I understand there is some kind of light distortion at the horizon but its beyond my knowledge of physics.

 

I'm sure there's a few of you out there who understand this effect but it was new to me and a big surprise.
