DMPS Students Help Kick-Off Drake Relays

Hundreds of Des Moines elementary students helped to kick-off the 2012 Drake Relays by running the KidStriders Victory Lap at the start of the Grand Blue Mile race. KidStriders is a program of Iowa Kidstrong, an organization founded by school board member Cindy Elsbernd. Sixteen DMPS elementary schools were represented at the event: Brubaker, Capitol View, Carver/BGCCI, Cowles, Edmunds, Findley, Garton, Hanawalt, Hubbell, Jefferson, Monroe, Morris, Park Avenue, Willard, Windsor, and Wright.
