Carlotta's Special Basket (1885)
In 1885, Carl and Mary Myers patented a design that would enable a balloon to land in a precise area. Carl manufactured the balloon fabric, but it was Mary (adopting the name Carlotta to hide the fact she was a lady) who got one of his balloons stuck. Most of the engineering work was hers.
