What crazy-making times these are!

I'm back at school now, and finally shooting (and sharing) again. I don't understand why I had anticipated more free time for personal projects this year while in school compared to last year. Spare time has become even more scarce. My various To Do lists are starting to look more like a catalog of ideas and things I wanted to do rather than goals and tasks actually accomplished. But at the end of the day, this time-squeeze is familiar and reminiscent of the same crazy-making I had originally survived last year.

This image represents a number of firsts for me. Firsts which I eagerly jump on to move forward to the seconds.

I shot this at school using a single Speedotron 105 head and a PhaseOne P25 digital back on an old Hasselblad 500C body with a 150mm lens and a macro extension tube attachment. The 105 head enables the type of action-stopping seen above. The hammer was rigged to a wire-contact trigger which fired the strobe at the perfect timing. The Speedo head was shot through a large softbox placed directly over the table to add those nice gradations on the hammer's handle.

I have a few other favs to post over the coming few days. I'm hopeful to catch up and breathe some life back into this poor, neglected Flickr stream. Thank you for checking in!
