Odyssey
This is my son's school. It is one of the few in the country that teaches k-12 online. It was basically started because the county is so big that several of the townships do not have High Schools so this was started as an alternative. It is actually the reason that we've moved to Las Vegas and stayed here.
By going to school online, he is able to work ahead in areas that he excels in such as Science, English and History. and gets help on subjects like Algebra. In the High School they meet 1 day per week for 4 hours per day. 1 hour of home room, 2 hours of project based learning which are skills that will be applicable in the workplace and 1 hour of math tutoring. He has to log on to the school learning center at least 6 hours per day.
As an added advantage to this, he is able to take college classes while still in High School. If he stays on track, When he graduates from HS, he'll have 27 hours of academic study in college which he can transfer to most any university. (I'm hoping for NYU but whoever makes him the best financial offer gets him)
the other advantage is that he doesn't get caught up in the teenage angst and school shootings that seem to be growing, at least here in Vegas.
Putting him in Odyssey changed his whole life and turned him from an average student (he was always smart but being smart in school is not cool) to an A/B honor roll student and put him on track to continue his academic career through at least college and hopefully beyond.
