Moonlit Seascape - Pentax 6x7 - Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR/6X7 105mm F/2.4 - Pro 160S

Moonlit Seascape

Mendocino County, California

It was about t 2/3 moon. I did not make notes but I remember the exposure was about 2 minutes. I did use the mirror lock up to prevent vibration at the beginning of the exposure. I metered the shot with my Pentax Digital Spot Meter, multiplied the time by 1.5 (WAG) to compensate for reciprocity failure, and used a timer app in my iPhone to time it. The camera shutter was set to "B" and I used a Nikon locking shutter release cable so I did not need to stand there and hold it.

The surf was up so the white is the average image of the white water from the waves breaking on the rocks. The white spot in the upper left is a high spot on Saunders Reef that is surrounded by much deeper water.

This is one of my first shots with this fast (for MF) & sharp lens. I think I like it!

The bands of white light at the top and upper right are cars driving along Shoreline Highway (California 1, Pacific Coast Highway).
