St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow

The Cathedral of Saint Basil (the holy fool) was erected on the Red Square in Moscow between 1555 - 1560 by the order of Tsar Ivan the Terrible. The legend says that after the cathedral was complete, Ivan the Terrible ordered to take out the eyes of the architect who built it, in order to prevent him from building something more beautiful in the future.
