Partial Eclipse
I've been wanting to do this shot for a LONG time. And do it well. I think that I finally had the right sky conditions, lighting and photography skills to make this work the way I had imagined it in my head.
My goal was to combine the icon of the Universe of Energy with Spaceship Earth and compose the image so that it looked like Spaceship Earth has rings with a small orbiting moon partially eclipsing SSE.
In post processing this image in PS Lightroom, the image was rotated to the left so that and the UOE energy atom were on their sides. The image was then converted to monochrome and the exposure was reduced to create a darker feel. Black levels were increased to darken the shadows and give dimension. Finally, a modest vignette was added to focus the viewer's eye to the center of the image.
