Doctoral gowns...

Here we are getting ready for our academic photo. From left to right

are myself (PhD in science and theology with a 'porno' hat and hood.

I have far too many degrees (from far too many Universities!) B.Th

(UNISA), B.Th.Hons, M.Th (Rhodes), Ph.D (Stellenbosch / UNISA)), Rev

Madika Sibeko (Master of Theology from the University of KwaZulu

Natal), Professor Dr Neville Richardson (PhD Theology and Ethics, with

a traditional mortar board and purple hood), Rev Ruth Jonas (Master of

Theology, University of Pretoria, wearing my Purple Cambridge master's

degree hood. She (wisely) decided that she wasn't going to buy a

Masters hood! She is holding on to buy a Doctoral hood and gown!)

 

In the background from left to right are Rev Sphiwe Radebe (chair of

the student council), Rev James Massey (Master of Science, Master of

Theology both from the University of KwaZulu Natal (I think), he teach

Old Testament), Mrs Lynell Massey Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of

Education (teaches study skills for Theology), Mrs Anne Burmeister

(Bachelor of Commerce, Registrar).

 

The person who is 'cut off' in the front row on the extreme left is Dr

Wessel Bentley (PhD Theology and Ethics from the University of

Pretoria - Wessel and I make a great team, we have edited and authored

a number of books together. He also owns a Vespa. Amazingly, he was

in high school (Grade 10) when I was sent as a minister to his Church

(back in 1992), that was my second appointment in the Methodist

Ministry. Yes, people often tell me I look too young to have been in

ministry for almost 20 years... I use good 'anti aging' 'metro-sexual'

face cream ;-)
