The Vista House
The Vista House sits atop Crown Point and overlooks the west end of Columbia River Gorge.
The structure was opened in 1918 as a way-station for those traveling Oregon Highway 30.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and became a National Historic Landmark in 2000.
Today most people speed alongside the Columbia River on Interstate 84, but Highway 30...now called the Historic Columbia River Highway... is still a favorite for those who either want a more scenic view from above the gorge, or to stop and visit the many waterfalls and hiking trails along the way.
