Don't Fear the Deth by Kirjat Umarov

DON'T FEAR THE DEPTH by Kirjat Umarov, the June-July 2025 exhibition @ Nitroglobus Main Hall

He’s back @ Nitroglobus!

After his first exhibition in April 2024, Kirjat returns—earlier than originally planned—and I couldn’t be more thrilled he said YES when I asked him to bring his powerful new artworks to the walls of the main hall.

This new collection is deeply personal. Each piece reflects Kirjat’s emotions and perspective on the world we live in today. He gave every work a title that captures exactly what moved him during the creative process.

There won’t be a party, but instead, we invite you to join us for an intimate VERNISSAGE on Monday evening, 16 June. Both Kirjat and I will be present, and we’d love to welcome you with a glass of champagne.

The exhibition is already open for visitors, all works are in place—feel free to come by early and enjoy these striking, emotive pieces.

P.S. Don’t miss Kirjat’s other impressive exhibition, 'Metaphysical Landscapes', currently on view at ArtCare Gallery.

Description by the artist:

I live and work as a freelance graphic designer in Hamburg/Germany. The focus of my work is in print design. My skills are "Concept & Layout" and "Information graphics"

As an artist and painter I've been working on different series of paintings for some time now: Metaphysical Landscapes, Geometric Abstracts, the White Series and the Black Series.

When I was offered the opportunity to exhibit, I looked at all these paintings and noticed how much my work is influenced by current events. I express this in how I use and combine colors, how I set accents, which elements dominate, which motifs I choose, how I feel about the paintings, and even in the titles I give them.

But strangely, the current global situation, with its frequent "deep" crises, doesn't fill me with fear. Instead, many of my works visualize a glimmer of hope, for example, how there is such colorful life in the depths of the sea (Deep Sea), the way a colorful being rises from out a deep gray-black dystopian landscape (Resurrection), that people still live on and around the famously deep Aral Sea, or how freedom from oppression can arise even from the deepest suffering (Let my people go).

In the end, I chose 19 images that, for me, say, "Yes, we have our very low personal, societal, and global depressions. We also struggle with deep-seated fears, and sometimes we walk through deep valleys of despair. But there is always hope and redemption ... - for us personally as well as for the world.

Therefore: Don't be afraid what you find deep inside you.
