Intramuros: Calesa
THE 18TH CENTURY "ROLLS ROYCE"
Kalesa is a horse-drawn carriage used during the 1800s as a mode of transportation in the Philippines at the time when Spanish occupied our country. At that time, only noble and rich people can ride on calesa. Today, calesa can be experienced by the ordinary Filipinos and foreign travelers by riding it to the places like Intramuros in Manila, and Vigan in Ilocos Sur where Spanish heritage is still rich. I took the photo of this kind of calesa outside Plaza de Roma in Intramuros, Manila.
