Venice, Florida - January 16, 2024: Two Great egrets in breeding pummage at Venice Area Audubon Rookery. The female Great egret puts on a beautiful display of breeding plumage for the male Great egret as they build a nest at the rookery. During nesting months (December through May) Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Anhingas, Snowy Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Glossy Ibises, Green Herons, Tri-colored Herons and Black-crowned Night-Herons can be seen roosting, courting, building nests, incubating eggs and raising chicks.
