Saxby Bridge
This is a Grade ll listed building.
"Bridge. Mid C19 for the Commissioners of the Ancholme Drainage and Navigation. Wrought-iron bridge with timber decking and squared limestone abutments with ashlar dressings. Single span, of single carriageway width, between abutments splayed out to roadway entrances. Abutments set on sloping riverbanks; each has a broad chamfered plinth supporting the main arches, a moulded cornice at deck level and a pair of rectangular piers with chamfered plinths and caps flanking the roadway above and linked by coped dwarf walls and railings to similar outer piers flanking the entrance. Bridge span of 3 arched ribs with bolted latticed braces, carrying bolted decking and railings with plain vertical bars between top and bottom rails. A well-designed and well-built bridge, unaltered apart from minor repairs tothe deck."
