DFID - UK Department for International Development
Emmanuel, village chief and entrepreneur
Emmanuel is one entrepreneur who is seeing the benefit of progress in CAR. The rebuilt bridge near to his home – part of the work DFID is funding through partner Première Urgence – means he can now walk directly to his fields, rather than the long way around the river.
And now he is investing. As well as his own produce, Emmanuel and his wife have started a new enterprise, buying a plant called sorghum to make a traditional home brew to sell.
