«Explored» The glistening lake

Tso Moriri in the Changthang (literal meaning, northern plains) area,

is a High Altitude Lake (HAL) with following vital statistics ;)

Max. length : 19 km (12 miles)

Max. width : 3 km (1.9 miles)

Altitude : 4,595 m (15,080 ft)

"The villagers told me a nice story about how Tsomo Riri got its name. A woman called Tsomo was riding a yak, when the beast decided that the sun was too hot for him( the Lakadhi sun can burn you at 15,000 feet) and started moving towards the lake. She tried her best to stop him, shouting 'riri, riri' which means 'stop, stop' in Tibetan, I was told. But the yak had had enough of the sun and plunged into the lake, where both drowned. Hence, the lake is known as Tsomo Riri".
