Classic "rare" flower . . .

. . . Hoffmaster State Park used to have a Trillium Festival every spring, but increasing numbers of White Tailed Deer brought that to an end, since their population boom resulted in the deer eating all of the flowers!

 

I took a quick drive through the park this morning and only spotted 3 or 4 of them, this one close to the Nature Center where aluminum pie plates dangling from strings scare away the deer!
