Newton Abbot 1st floor: railway store

Pre-construction Phase: first floor. This photo gives a good impression of the amount of removal work that needed to be done even after the library had moved to Teign House. Nearly all of this shelving was donated to local charities in the end, which was a great result.

Previously the railway studies store room, the far wall will be knocked through and the space will become part of one large library room on the first floor, including railway studies collection, local history, reference materials and study space.

A new room has been specially designed to house the parts of the railway collection that can't be on public display, with a rolling stack to maximise storage space and humidity control to ensure the materials are preserved for generations to come.
