I've been walking Joe with just his slip lead since his back injury. We're making some real progress on our walks, today was stellar :-)
We encountered several different dogs. I fought the urge to avoid them and continued forward.
The first dog was his arch nemesis, a neighbors large black and white doodle dog. Joe barked once, I corrected him, and he sat and looked up at me!? They actually waved at me! :-)
I had the same urge to avoid the next dog we encountered, a big bear/wolf looking dog I've never seen before. Joe had no reaction to it whatsoever!?
I think our ship show with the five ankle biters last weekend was a real turning point for us...
His back is 100% healed but we'll continue with the short leash for a while and continue improving his behavior.
