Breakfast Ride
Every Saturday Morning for over 30 years local cyclists meet and pedal to a nearby town for breakfast. During the Winter months it’s mountain bikes and cyclocross bikes on the frozen beach and thru the woods, the Summer months bring out road bikes. The rides range from 30 miles (15 each way) to over 100 at the peak of the cycling season. Numbers range from 1 rider to over 30, many people opt to ski rather than pedal when conditions allow. The riders range from professional racers to occasional riders and everything in between, from teenagers to over 60 somethings.
At the peak of my cycling career I joined them occasionally but working night shifts always made it difficult to make the early start time. These days I’m usually heading out, either running or pedaling, when they’re returning but our paths frequently cross as the ride goes right past my house. I got up early today just to shoot a photo of them expecting a large group like I passed last week but the group was smaller than I anticipated.
